Spectacles: Period Glasses

Reviewed by Al Garrod: 29 March 2013

How strange it is to see a man in 15th or 16th century clothing wearing modern spectacles. It really spoils the illusion.
I bought my specs from Trevor Timms of www.periodglasses.com some years ago now, and they have served me well. Trevor offers a good range of specs to suit different periods in history. I have found them practical and durable - they have been through two changes of prescription. Taking them into the optician for a lense change always causes quite a sir, but they don't present any problems to the optician. Not only do they look right for re-enactment - for me they are an absolute must, as I couln't read the music without them!

Leather Belt: Steven "Stitch" Pole

Reviewed by Al Garrod: 29 March 2013

I first noticed Steven's work in his Facebook album, then later discovered his website - www.leathstitch.co.uk
Steven made a belt to my specification, with imported mounts that I chose myself. His workmanship is excellent and I found him a really nice person to deal with. I always found him polite and helpful, even though it took me a long time to decide exactly what I wanted. When I saw the finished belt, I immediately contacted him with another order. I believe that Steven makes canvass items as well as the leatherwork.
